The aím of the study was to investigate the regfonal relationship between fertility and hu- man development in Hungary. As a measure of fertility we used total fertility rate (TFR) and as an estimate of development the human development index (HDI), which cover the life expectancy at birth, the level of education as well as the GDP per capita in counties and regions of Hungary. The results of the research show that in counties and regions where the human development index is low the level of fertility is high and where the human development is high the fertility is similar with the lowest level of European fertílíty.
