The article deals with the situation of nonprofit organizations of five of the biggest Hungarian county seats namely Debrecen, Gy őr, Miskolc, Szeged and Pécs analizing the distribution of one percent offered from individual's personal income tax. Settlements data were used beside the databases of APEH's one percent and personal income taxes. The most succesful types of local organizations doing 1% campaigns are presented here and the town's recent view of nonprofit is compared to the attitude specific to the early post communist era in Hungary.
