Abstract

Particularly great attention has accompanied the inflow of foreign direct investments to Hungary. These enterprises have played an outstanding role in modernising the economy and improving export capabilities and employment. At the end of 1990's 26 000 firms with foreign direct investment have been active in Hungary with a total subscribed foreign capital of 20 billion USD. This work is concerned with spatial distribution of the enterprises with "foreign direct investment" from Romania and Yugoslavia and the economic and social factors that have influenced its appearance and development.
